About Us

The Greater Bel Air Community Foundation, Inc was founded in April of 1998 by local citizens and business people concerned about the welfare of the families and citizens of Bel Air, the community, its facilities, and the Town.

The Foundation raised almost $300,000 towards the construction of bleachers at Bel Air High School, the total cost for which was over $400,000. Additionally $50,000 was raised for improvements to the William A. Humbert Amphitheater, located in Shamrock Park and $30,000 for a permanent restroom facility at the Lyn Stacie Getz Creative Playground at Route 24 and Ring Factory Road.

In 2005, the Foundation has created a playground grant program for Bel Air area schools, awarding $5,000 grants to Ring Factory Elementary School, Bel Air Elementary School and Wakefield Elementary School to assist in the replacement of outdated equipment.

The Foundation has matched $25,000 for the construction of a woman’s locker room at the Bel Air Reckord Armory for use by the Bel Air Recreation Committee and the community. $20,000 has been donated to the Sexual Abuse/Spousal Abuse Resource Center for renovations to the headquarters in memory of Tom Broumel. The Foundation has made available $10,000 in contributions to the Department of Parks & Recreation for construction of Annie’s Playground and a public climbing wall at Edgeley Grove Farm in Fallston. A $25,000 contribution has also been earmarked to help the Department of Parks & Recreation with the revitalization and adaptive reuse of the old recycling center in Heavenly Waters Park. The center will be rebuilt and use to house a woodshop for the Office on Aging and expanded restrooms and showers for the Equestrian Center and Farm Fair.

A $25,000 donation was approved for the ARC Project (Phase 1) which will assist in building a wheelchair friendly home in Bel Air with enhanced accessibility for people with developmental disabilities.

Essentially, the Foundation raises funds for capital improvement projects in the community. These primarily consist of the creation of or improvement to standing structures and/or permanent equipment as improvements to standing structures.

The foundation is a qualified 501(c)(3) corporation and your gift is tax deductible to the extent permitted by law.
